This site was designed to support a free, four-week online course on Twitter and how to use it to build or enhance your personal learning network (PLN). I ran this course in January 2015. You are welcome to use any of the material here, but I have not updated it since then, since I have been teaching other similar courses for CSLA and for AASL. For the latest information, please sign up for one of those courses.

Who is the course for?

I designed the course for CSLA members interested in getting going with Twitter. And, I developed it with the goal in mind of preparing CSLA’s Centennial Conference attendees to be active tweeters during the conference and beyond, but the course is open to anyone who either has never been on Twitter or who wants to come up to speed on using Twitter effectively.

When will it meet?

The class will take place over the course of four weeks, beginning January 5. There will be no set live meetings. You will be able to do all the activities at whatever times work for you, but try to keep up with each week’s activities before the end of that week. There may, though, be one or more optional live Google Hangouts. These will also be recorded for later viewing.

What are the requirements to participate?

Pretty simple:

  • Either have a Twitter account or create one during the first week of the course
  • Join our Google+ Community, where course attendees will be able to post questions, comments, and ideas about using Twitter. (So, that does mean you also need a Google/Gmail account and that you will also be learning a bit about Google+ if you aren’t on it already.)
  • Willingness to spend several hours (2 – 4?) each week of the course on the course activities

What will the course content include?

Here’s a tentative agenda. Please note that it is still in draft form and subject to change.

How do I enroll?

To join the course, please complete this form: bit.ly/twitterclassenroll I will be capping enrollment so I can give attention to everyone participating, so please don’t delay signing up.

Note: The class is now full, but I really, really hate to turn anyone away. So, if you are really keen to participate, email and convince me to add you. 🙂

What will I earn?

Sorry, this a “no credit” course. But, you will earn the satisfaction of having a new skill you can use at the CSLA conference and to enhance your personal learning. And, you can post a badge of completion on Twitter, your blog, Facebook, or anywhere else you like. 🙂
